About Amanda Atkinson
I am a children’s author with a background in animal education, teaching and welfare-led learning. My work is inspired by the natural world, the lives of animals, and the questions children ask when they begin to notice how big and fascinating the world really is.
Before writing children’s books, I spent years working in animal care and education, including teaching and delivering learning sessions for children and young people. That experience now shapes the stories I create, stories that are imaginative and engaging, but also grounded in real themes from nature, habitats, conservation and animal life.
My books are written to do more than entertain. I want children to connect with the characters, enjoy the story, and come away wanting to know more about the world around them.
Whether through picture books, fact-inspired stories, or school visits, my aim is simple: to create books that spark curiosity and make learning feel natural.
